David Reinbacher has had a horror run with injury since being a top-five pick in the NHL Draft, and now fans are calling on the team to trade him.

Back in the 2023 NHL Draft, the Montreal Canadiens used the No. 5 overall pick on David Reinbacher, and it was a moved that earned GM Kent Hughes plenty of backlash at the time.

However, the young defenseman still has immense talent, with many fans allowing themselves to be patient as he develops into a potentially key piece of the organization’s future around their young core.

Reinbacher’s Latest Injury Has Montreal Canadiens Fans More Frustrated Than Ever

Unfortunately, after a serious injury a season ago, he’s suffered another one in the pre-season, with a recent report revealing that he will be out for up to four weeks after breaking a bone in his hand.Given the way fans reacted to him being drafted, with the team missing out on the likes of Matvei Michkov, Ryan Leonard and others, it’s no surprise that the constant injuries are growing frustrations within the Habs fanbase.

So much so that some fans have taken to social media to call on the team to trade the 20-year old, who was limited to just 10 games with the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League a season ago.

However, in those 10 games, he managed 2 goals and 5 points, solid production from a young blue liner in the AHL, with the organization still clearly believing in his talent and his potential as a key piece of the team’s future.

Ultimately, it’s unlikely that Montreal will want to move on from Reinbacher after another injury, as they clearly see him as someone that will only improve as he stays healthy. If he can start the season in the AHL hot, anything can happen.
