The San Jose Sharks will play their second preseason game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday.
San Jose took the opener last Sunday, 3-0, with goals from John Klingberg, Jeff Skinner, and Tyler Toffoli.
Vegas will be playing in its 4th preseason game, although each roster will be different. The Sharks are dressing top prospects Michael Misa, Sam Dickinson, and Quentin Musty for the second straight game.
Other rookies vying for spots include Ethan Cardwell and Filip Bystedt.

Good showings in camp need to translate to preseason games for the young Sharks
Misa, Musty, and Dickinson have impressed San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky so far. Because of that, he wants to see them in a true game situation again.
“I think consistency. Can they do it again? Everyone can show flashes. Everyone can do it in one game. That’s what makes a real NHLer, consistency, right?” Warsofsky said. “That’s what sets others apart from others. Can they do it again and do it again the next day, and come back for practice and Sunday, and do it again? That’s why we’re testing them here.”
Warsofsky said Musty had a strong first period in the first game, but didn’t match the same level in the second period. He did finish strong. The winger has put himself firmly in the conversation to make the opening night roster. Tonight is another chance to prove he belongs.
Askarov is ready to go
San Jose Sharks’ new No. 1 goalie, Yaroslav Askarov, will get his first game of the preseason on Friday. The 23-year-old will play the entire game, according to Warsofsky.

His partner, Alex Nedeljkovic, pitched a shutout in his first game while playing the full 60.
Dickinson’s chance is now with Kilingberg hurt
Dickinson’s game tonight deserves to be separated from the rest of the Sharks’ young players. With John Klingberg out of the lineup tonight and missing from practice with an upper-body injury, Dickinson has taken the spot on the top power play unit.
Tonight’s top unit won’t have the same personnel that Dickinson has been practicing with. Macklin Celebrini, Tyler Toffoli, and Will Smith are out of the lineup and have been on the top power play unit with William Eklund.
Eklund is in the lineup tonight and will play with Misa 5-on-5.

Dmitri Orlov will run the top unit with Eklund, Misa, Alex Wennberg, and Adam Gaudette.
Dickinson will play with a complete prospect unit that includes Musty, Bystedt, Shakir Mukhamadullin, and Igor Chernyshov.
