The Calgary Flames’ roster is beginning to take shape.

On Friday afternoon, the Flames trimmed their roster by 13 players, sending a couple of prominent names to the AHL for more seasoning with the Calgary Wranglers.

The list includes Andrew Basha, their second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. It’s no surprise to see a 19-year-old like Basha be sent to the AHL. While he remains a highly touted prospect, this season will mark his first foray into the world of professional hockey and some time with the Wranglers will only help his development.

The Flames still have four goalies, 13 defencemen and 21 forwards at training camp, while the Wranglers will begin their preparations for the 2025-26 season on Monday.
