In an unfortunate turn of events, Abbotsford Canucks defenseman and Vancouver prospect Guillaume Brisbois will be out indefinitely after undergoing surgery to repair a lower-body injury.
Although considered a prospect for the Vancouver Canucks, the 28-year-old D-Man has only played a combined 30 games for the bug club since being drafted in the third round back in 2015.
After winning the Calder Cup in Abbotsford last season, Brisbois was added to the Canucks’ 2025-26 training camp roster.
But, with reaching an older age and not appearing in many NHL games, Brisbois was slotted into Group C with a lot of the organization’s other prospects and camp invitees.
The reason fpr his injury being a shock to many is the fact that general manager Patrik Allvin highlighted all of the injuries that would withhold them from takng part in preseason.
On Saturday, the Vancouver Canucks announced that the journeyman defenseman would be out for long-term after suffering a lower body injury and needed surgery to repair it.

Touted as a stay at home defenseman, the injury is a pretty big blow considering the key role he played in bring a championship to Abbotsford last year.
