Anaheim Ducks Extend McTavish

The Anaheim Ducks, after a long standoff this offseason, have reached a deal on an extension for forward Mason McTavish. The deal is for six years, worth $42 million, good for a seven-million AAV according to Elliotte Friedman. The 22-year-old forward played in 76 games for the Ducks last season, recording 52 points on 22 goals and 30 assists. He was even in plus/minus with six power-play goals and two game-winning goals.

Mason McTavish

The Anaheim Ducks drafted McTavish third overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Following being drafted, he played in 29 games in the OHL, playing in 24 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs and five games with the Peterborough Petes. He recorded 47 points on 20 goals and 27 assists; he was a +30. He then joined the Ducks, where he played in nine games for Anaheim, recording three points on two goals and an assist. McTavish was a plus-three with a game-winning goal. He also played in three games for the San Diego Gulls in the AHL. He had a goal and an assist. Finishing as a plus-one with a power-play goal.

In four seasons with the Ducks, he’s combined to play in 229 games, recording 140 points on 60 goals and 80 assists. He is a -39 with 17 power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and seven game-winning goals. He finished seventh in Calder Memorial Trophy voting in 2022-23.
