The Toronto Maple Leafs have been able to solidify their goaltending over the last season, and reports are that an extension is in place for their number one netminder.
Anthony Stolarz is signing a four-year, $15 million contract extension, Kevin Weeke’s reported on Sunday. Most of the money is through a signing bonus. The 31-year-old goaltender was signed as a free agent before the 2024-25 season to a two-year deal. An extension would keep him in Toronto along with backup Joseph Woll, who is signed through 2027-28.
In his first season with the Maple Leafs, Stolarz registered a 21-8-3 record with a .926 save percentage and 2.14 goals-against average over a career-high 34 games. The 2012 second round draft pick also appeared in seven postseason games before suffering an injury, posting a .901 save percentage and 2.19 GAA.
The Edison, New Jersey native started his NHL career with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2016-17 season and also spent time with the Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, and Florida Panthers before joining the Leafs.
Stolarz won the Stanley Cup in 2023-24 with the Florida Panthers.
