An NHL insider believes that the Vancouver Canucks and General Manager Patrik Allvin aren’t done adding to their roster as we inch closer to the start of the season.

“I think the Canucks certainly tried to, you know, comb the market and see what was out there in terms of the center position. I just don’t think they got close on anything.” David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period said.

NHL insider gives big update on Vancouver Canucks’ pursuit of more forward help

In a recent appearance on Hello Hockey, NHL insider David Pagnotta shared that the Vancouver Canucks will be looking to see if there is an upgrade available for the middle/bottom-six forward group in the weeks ahead.

“I do think the Canucks…are going to start just looking around for a mid six, bottom six type of forward; they started poking around, I think they’ll escalate that a little bit.” Pagnotta said.

The report from David Pagnotta comes one day after the Vancouver Canucks revealed that Swedish forward Nils Hoglander will be out of the lineup week-to-week with a lower-body injury he sustained during last Wednesday’s win in Abbotsford against the Calgary Flames. One team to keep an eye on is the Toronto Maple Leafs as they have a bit of a logjam among their forward group and instead of risking it by placing someone like Nick Robertson or David Kampf on the waiver wire and losing them for nothing, they could opt to go down the trade route, with Patrik Allvin & the Vancouver Canucks as a possible partner.

It’s going to be interesting to keep an eye on this situation over the next week and whether or not Patrik Allvin can make another addition – either via trade or possibly the waiver wire – before opening night rosters are due to the National Hockey League at 2 p.m. PT on Monday, October 6th.
