Four Canucks Leave Vancouver as General Manager Patrik Allvin Completes Multiple Roster Moves

After facing off against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers in there third game of the preseason, the Vancouver Canucks have decided that another round of cuts were in order, this time placing four four key members of the Abbotsford Canucks on waivers.

The NHL season is quickly approaching as there is just over a week left until the teams teams kick of their years on October 7th.

With it coming fast, it means that general managers all around the NHL are forced to make the hard decisions to either cut or place players on waivers for the purpose of finalizing their roster.

Vancouver Canucks place four players on waivers

Even though the team has already made some significant cuts, general manager Patrik Allvin made his first real hard decision of camp, placing Joe Labate, Mackenzie MacEachern, netminder Jiri Patera, and Jimmy Schuldt on waivers.

The purpose is not to terminate their contract, but for them to return back to the American Hockey League (AHL) and start their season with the Abbotsford Canucks.

Canucks have waived Joe Labate, Mackenzie MacEachern, Jiri Patera, and Jimmy Schuldt.

In reality, the move does not come to much of a surprise to many as the roster is basically finalized, along with already have their two slots at goalie filled with Thatcher Demko and Kevin Lankinen.

With today’s NHL, injuries are an ongoing issue, and when those occur, these players will likely get their named called to fill and prove their worth with the big club.
