If one had to guess which NFL team the Dallas Mavericks’ star big man, Anthony Davis, roots for, it might be the Bears, considering he’s from Chicago, or the Rams from his time spent in Los Angeles, or even the Saints from his time in New Orleans.

None of those would be correct.

The Mavs had their media day on Monday, and Davis began his press conference by asking the reporters some light-hearted questions and answering a few of his own.

When asked about the previous night’s game between the Cowboys and Packers, Davis responded with dismay, saying that his team should’ve won the game.

A reporter followed up by asking how a guy from Chicago who plays in Dallas is a Green Bay Packers fan?

“I wasn’t into football when I first got into the NBA. My head coach at the time, Monty Williams, told me that I had to have a football team. The way the Bears were going … that probably wasn’t going to happen,” Davis said.

He went on to explain how he made the decision of whom to root for.

Randall Cobb went to Kentucky. He and I were really cool, and he got drafted to the Packers. I’m just gonna cheer for whatever team he goes to. I realized we’re a very good football club. That’s kinda how it happened. I’ve been a Packers fan ever since,” Davis said.

Davis has been seen supporting the Packers, like when he was on the sideline in January of 2024 for the team’s playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.
