The NHL season is rapidly approaching, and on Monday we saw another 20+ players on waivers, including a former Cup Champion in Nicolas Aube-Kubel.

With the NHL season now less than two weeks from beginning, teams are getting their rosters together ahead of what could be one of the most wide open and exciting seasons in recent history.

With pre-season now wrapping up, teams are looking to trim down their roster to their ideal forms, with so many AHL players and players on PTO’s set to be sent back to their rosters or officially released in the coming days, as we see more and more players placed on waivers.

Here is the full list of players:

2022 Stanley Cup Champion Nicolas Aube-Kubel Among 22 Players Hitting the NHL Waiver Wire Today

Thus far, there haven’t been many notable players placed on waivers, until now, as former Stanley Cup Champion Nicolas Aube-Kubel was among the list of 22-players that were officially waived on Monday.

Aube-Kubel won the Cup back in 2022 with the Colorado Avalanche, becoming famous in the process as he dented the Cup just moments after it was awarded on the ice, right in front of his teammates.

Now, he’s been waived by the Minnesota Wild as he looks to find his new home in the NHL, with the talented veteran now on his sixth team since the 2021/22 campaign despite marginal success in that time.

Beyond Aube-Kubel, there isn’t much experience on the waiver list released on Monday, and after everyone from Sunday cleared through waivers, much of the same should be expected here.

However, with a Stanley Cup Champion potentially offering teams plenty of depth, don’t be surprised if Aube-Kubel draws plenty of interest in the next 24 hours as the regular season draws near.
