As reported by the excellent Marc-Olivier Cook, we witnessed a rather unusual scene this morning live from Brossard involving forward Patrik Laine.

While all the Montreal Canadiens players were together on the second ice surface, one player was missing.. Patrik Laine! But where was he you ask?

Laine was all alone on his own rink, taking shots on goal.

Several journalists noted the unusual and quite special nature of this situation.

“All the CH players are on the second ice for the morning skate.

They’re all there except for Patrik Laine, who is alone on the first ice working on his shot.” – Marc-Olivier Cook

In the end, Laine eventually rejoined his teammates a little later and was greeted by head coach Martin St-Louis, who had a good discussion with his number 92 forward.

Strange situation surrounding Patrik Laine

I’m eager to see what all of this means for the start of the Montreal Canadiens’ regular season.

Will Patrik Laine regain his spot on the second line with Kirby Dach?

It’s unfortunate because Laine really seems to want to improve and increase his impact at 5-on-5, but so far, it simply isn’t working.
