As the Calgary Flames continue to get ready for the start of a new season, the team is dealing with trade rumors around star defenseman Rasmus Andersson. Andersson has been in the headlines all summer long, but so far, the team has held back from moving him.

There has been a lot of interest around the league in Andersson, and many believe that he could have been moved already. But it seems that Calagry will start the year with Andersson and see how things progress ahead of the trade deadline.

However, there are two teams that have reportedly caught the eye of Andersson in potential deals. One of which makes a little more sense than the other.

Rasmus Andersson Prefers Trade to Dallas Stars

According to NHL insider David Pagnotta, Andersson would prefer a deal to either the Vegas Golden Knights or Dallas Stars. Pagnotta also mentioned that the Flames almost sent the defenseman to the Los Angeles Kings, but Andersson declined to sign an extension in Los Angeles.

Between these two teams, the Stars make a little more sense. Dallas needs an upgrade across the blueline, and Andersson could help them do just that.

Last season with the Flames, the veteran put up 11 goals and 20 assists over 81 games played in the regular season. Dallas has been searching for a way to get over the hump in the Western Conference, and Andersson could be the missing piece.

If the Stars could add Andersson to the mix, he would make this unit even more formidable for the season. The veteran will stay with Calgary for now, but we can’t count out the possibility of a late trade right before the season starts.
