Defenseman Kevin Korchinski has been assigned to the Rockford IceHogs as the Blackhawks work to finalize their roster.

The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned defenseman Kevin Korchinski to the Rockford IceHogs, growing Rockford’s training camp roster to 38 players as preseason roster shuffling continues.

The move places Korchinski, 20, on the verge of his third professional season since being selected by the Blackhawks seventh overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The left-shot blue-liner, a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, brings a solid skillset and experience to the IceHogs’ lineup.

Korchinski spent the majority of the 2024-25 season with Rockford, skating in 56 games and tallying 27 points (three goals, 24 assists). He led all IceHogs defensemen with four points during the team’s postseason run, highlighted by two goals in the first-round series against the Chicago Wolves.

The young defenseman also spent some time in the NHL, appearing in 16 games with the Blackhawks last year and recording one goal and one assist during his stint.

As Chicago continues its preseason, more players are expected to be added to Rockford’s roster in the coming days. Meanwhile, Kevin Korchinski will look to earn another shot at the NHL with a strong showing in Rockford, building on his production and experience as a top organizational prospect.
