It’s always nice to win, even in the exhibition season, and the Red Wings did just that Tuesday in Chicago, defeating the Blackhawks, 3-1.
The victory ended a three-game losing streak (3-3-0) in the preseason, with two games remaining against Toronto (Thursday in Toronto, Saturday at Little Caesars Arena) before the Wings begin the regular season next week.
J.T. Compher (first goal of preseason), Michael Brandsegg-Nygard (second goal and game-winner) and Lucas Raymond (first) scored for the Wings, while goaltender Cam Talbot stopped 27-of-28 shots.
Colton Dach scored a third-period Chicago goal, after the Wings had taken a 3-0 lead into the final 20 minutes.
The Blackhawks outshot the Wings, 28-19. The big difference in the game was the Wings’ penalty killing, so woeful last season, had an excellent night killing all six Chicago power plays (the Wings were 0-for-1).
