LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Vegas Golden Knights marked the eighth anniversary of the October 1, 2017 tragedy with a 2-1 preseason victory against the Colorado Avalanche at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The team honored the victims and first responders of the tragedy with several events throughout the day.

Event Details

Blood DriveThe Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, in partnership with Downtown Summerlin and Vitalant, hosted an annual 1 October Memorial Blood Drive outside City National Arena from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Team members and staff were present to donate blood and show support.

$1 Million DonationThe Vegas Golden Knights Foundation announced a $1 million donation to the Vegas Strong Fund, the nonprofit responsible for the fundraising, design, and construction of the 1 October Forever One Memorial. The memorial will honor the victims, support survivors, and acknowledge first responders. A check presentation took place after the team’s morning skate.

Game vs. AvalancheThe Golden Knights hosted a preseason game against the Avalanche at 6 p.m.. Families of the victims and first responders were invited to the game and honored with special acknowledgments.

Game ResultThe Golden Knights defeated the Avalanche 2-1. Gabriel Landeskog scored the Avalanche’s only goal in the first period, while Brett Howden tied the game for Vegas in the third period and William Karlsson scored the game-winning goal later in the third.
