Former Carolina Hurricanes player and current analyst Shane Willis offers his insight into the Canes’ playoff run with a day-after recap of each game.
Shane’s take
The Hurricanes had another good start to Game 2, but did not maintain the level of desperation needed to defeat the Washington Capitals. The Capitals won more of the little battles for 60 minutes leading them to the win.
Stars of the Game
Tom Wilson: Wilson led the way with a goal and assist and was dominant the entire game physically and offensively.
Shayne Gostisbehere: Gostisbehere was dangerous offensively all night and created the Hurricanes only goal.
Logan Thompson: Thompson did not face the quantity of shots he faced in Game 1, but was very good in leading the Capitalss to their first victory.
What the Canes need to do next
The Hurricanes can look at many positives from Game 1 and Game 2 in preperation for Game 3. They have stolen home ice advantage and need to use that positivity to win the battles in the trenches for a full 60 minutes on Saturday night to find their second win of the series.
