The Tampa Bay Lightning have claimed goaltender Pheonix Copley off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings.
He was placed on waivers by the club on Wednesday with the purpose of being sent to the AHL’s Ontario Reign.
Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy rejoined the team for practice on Tuesday while he continues to recover from an undisclosed injury. Head coach jon Cooper has not confirmed whether he will start either of the team’s final preseason games.
Copley, 33, has appeared in 46 games for the Kings over the past three seasons posting an .897 save percentage, 2.75 goals-against average to go along with a 28-7-5 record.
Over his seven-year career with the Kings, Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues, Copley has recorded a 44-16-8 record, an .898 save percentage, and 2.84 GAA.
