The Maple Leafs are coming together as a team, and now Craig Berube has made fun of rookie Easton Cowan following a poor performance at a Maple Leafs trip.

Hockey, like other professional sports are known for giving rookies a hard time, and even in 2025, it appears as that is still going on, especially with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The squad recently took a camp trip to Muskoka, one that would be described as a team bonding trip, and it appears as though they’ve come back to training camp in very good spirits.

Head Coach Craig Berube roasts Easton Cowan

When asked about that trip, Head Coach Craig Berube brought up a specific moment involving rookie Easton Cowan, in which he got up to sing in front of the whole group, and now, he’s absolutely roasted the rookie for it.

He should just stick to hockey.

It’s unclear what Cowan sung or how exactly it went down, but clearly the team are all in high spirits, with Berube taking a shot at Cowan just days out from the beginning of the 2025/26 regular season.

Other activities from the team’s yearly trip included plenty of competitive golf, and with the pressures of a season and another year full of Stanley Cup expectations, it’s fantastic to see Toronto players still able to relax as they look to bond ahead of the campaign.

Ultimately though, the 20-year old is making waves on the ice at training camp, and putting himself in this situation shows he’s comfortable with the group, and if he makes that opening night roster, expect a very fun rookie campaign for Cowan in Toronto.
