Winnipeg Jets News & Notes:

The Winnipeg Jets are coming off yet another preseason loss against the Minnesota Wild, where things looked like the season could start off on the wrong foot. Jonathan Toews would exit the second period due to injury and is listed as day-to-day, and Vladislav Namestnikov would exit the game after being pulled by the concussion spotter after being boarded by Yakov Trenin. Namestnikov would practice with the team the following day, and Toews has yet to return to practice. The Jets’ defensive corps took a blow with Dylan Samberg being listed out 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist. The Jets look to finish their preseason on a high note with most of their NHL roster in the lineup after making plenty of transactions, reassigning players to the Manitoba Moose.

Calgary Flames News & Notes:

Calgary is looking to finish its preseason at an even .500 win percentage. Calgary took an 8-1 lashing from the Vancouver Canucks at home and looks to bounce back with a win over the Winnipeg Jets. Similar to Winnipeg, the Flames are making a ton of roster moves by sending players to the Calgary Wranglers in order to get down to the 23-man NHL roster limit. The Flames have also just extended their head coach, Ryan Huska, to a two-year contract extension.

Players To Watch:

Winnipeg Jets

Parker Ford will be looking to utilize the last preseason game to make his mark at the NHL level. Ford was a massive contributor at the faceoff dot against Minnesota, and it’s expected that Ford will do the same tonight against Calgary.

Calgary Flames

Joel Farabee has been a great piece for the Calgary Flames and has been a strong piece of their preseason roster. He’ll be a big thorn in the side of the Jets tonight as the Flames look to hand Winnipeg another preseason loss.
