Luke Hughes recently commented on the possibility of playing with his brother, Quinn, after signing a long-term extension to remain with the New Jersey Devils.

“The New Jersey Devils announced today that the team has agreed to terms with restricted free agent defenseman Luke Hughes on a seven-year contract worth $63,000,000 ($9,000,000 AAV). The announcement was made by President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald. He will join the club for practice on Thursday.” the club announced earlier this week.

Luke Hughes speaks about possibly playing alongside both of his brothers

“It may not boil down to money with [Quinn]. He said before he wants to play with his brothers. That would be partly out of our control. In our control if we brought his brothers here.” Jim Rutherford said.

When asked by a reporter about the potential for playing with all three of his brothers, Luke said he would love to do that someday, but added that Quinn loves being in Vancouver and being a Canuck, but, you can never say never.

“Yes of course, the 3 of us would love to play together someday. Whether that happens or not who knows. We’ll see. I know he loves Vancouver. He’s the captain there…You never know. Never say never.” Luke Hughes said.

As we inch closer to the beginning of the 2025-26 season, hopefully the Vancouver Canucks are able to get off to a hot start this month and help quiet down those rumors about their captain’s future with the club.
