The Toronto Maple Leafs hold a 2-0 series advantage over the Florida Panthers after defending home ice to open the series. Toronto has looked like the better team to start, even with them being forced to play backup goalie Joseph Woll.
Woll took over for starter Anthony Stolarz during Game 1 after Stolarz suffered a scary injury. Stolarz was in a collision with Panthers forward Sam Bennett, forcing him to be taken off the ice on a stretcher.

But Woll has filled in very nicely for Stolarz, helping Toronto grab the 2-0 series lead. Heading into Game 3, Woll will be getting the start once again with Stolarz not quite ready to go.
Before the game, the Maple Leafs’ social media account had some fun, comparing Woll to a famous song by the band Oasis.
If Woll can put together another strong effort in Game 3, the Maple Leafs could have a chance to go up 3-0. His play has lit a fire under his teammates, with forward Mitch Marner discussing his performance so far.

“It’s amazing,” he said. “We have so much confidence in our goalies. And Joe just comes in with such a calming presence. Just his preparation before games and during games”

“It’s just so professional to see how he takes things every day.”
Toronto will be counting on him heavily, once again, but it won’t be easy. The scene now shifts over to Florida, giving the Panthers a chance to defend home ice, putting some pressure back on the Maple Leafs.
