The Chicago Blackhawks close out preseason play on Saturday night against the St. Louis Blues at the United Center. It’s the second exhibition matchup in seven days between these two teams, with the Blackhawks storming back from a 2-0 deficit to win the first meeting 4-2 in St. Louis.
While the Blackhawks iced most of their projected NHL roster in their last three preseason contests, that will not be the case in the finale vs. the Blues. A group of mostly AHL players fills out the lineup, as the Blackhawks recalled several skaters from Rockford for the back end of their weekend back-to-back.

Landon Slaggert, Sam Lafferty, and Nolan Allan are the only three players set to appear in both preseason games for the Blackhawks this weekend.
After being scratched against the Minnesota Wild on Friday, Oliver Moore, Ryan Greene, Lukas Reichel, Ethan Del Mastro, and Louis Crevier are all back in the lineup against the Blues. Crevier is likely locked into the seventh-defenseman role to begin the regular season, but Moore, Greene, Reichel, and Del Mastro are still fighting for NHL roster spots.
Arvid Soderblom will make his second start of the preseason in net. Soderblom last appeared in the Blackhawks’ preseason opener, where he stopped 40 of 43 shots faced against the Detroit Red Wings.

Blackhawks Preseason Notes
The Blackhawks opened the preseason with a lackluster 3-2 loss to the Red Wings on Tuesday, September 23rd, at Little Caesars Arena. Connor Bedard and Wyatt Kaiser were the goal scorers for Chicago.
After falling behind 2-0, the Blackhawks scored four unanswered goals in the third period to earn their first preseason win over the Blues on Saturday, September 27th. That was fun.
Frank Nazar recorded a hat trick in the Blackhawks’ 4-1 win over the Wild on Sunday, September 28th. Big things are in store for Nazar in his first full NHL campaign.
In the preseason home opener at the United Center on Tuesday, September 30th, the Blackhawks fell 3-1 to the Red Wings, despite leading in most major categories.
The Blackhawks raced out to an early 2-0 lead but surrendered three unanswered power-play goals to fall 3-2 to the Wild on Saturday, October 3rd, at the United Center.

Projected Blackhawks Lineup
Taige Harding, Gavin Hayes, Kevin Korchinski, Paul Ludwinski, Martin Misiak, Samuel Savoie, Aidan Thompson, and Dominic Toninato were recalled from the AHL on Saturday and will all be in the Blackhawks lineup. Additionally, Cavan Fitzgerald, Brett Seney, and Mitchell Weeks signed PTOs with Chicago. Both Fitzgerald and Seney will play against the Blues.
The Blackhawks held a morning skate on Saturday, but none of the AHL call-ups were in attendance. As a result, the forward lines and defensive pairings are unknown.
