The New Jersey Devils placed forward Zack MacEwen on waivers one day after acquiring him from the Ottawa Senators.
MacEwen, 29, was acquired from the Senators on Friday in exchange for forward Kurtis MacDermid.

The 6-foot-4 centre appeared in 21 games with the Senators last season, recording two goals, three points and 21 penalty minutes. He also had seven goals and 16 points in 23 games with AHL Belleville last season.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Vancouver Canucks in 2017, MacEwen has 17 goals and 34 points in 237 career games split between the Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings, and Senators.
MacEwen is entering the final season of a three-year, $2.33 contract that carries a cap hit of $775,000. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
The Devils are coming off a season that saw them finish third in the Metropolitan Division with a 42-33-7 record and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Carolina Hurricanes in five games.
