DETROIT, Mich. — The Toronto Maple Leafs, leading 5-3 with under three minutes left in the third period, gave up a power-play goal to Dylan Larkin, then Albert Johansson scored the equalizer with 31 seconds left to force overtime in the final pre-season game for both clubs.
Larkin scored his second of the game, a power-play marker at 3:23 of overtime, to give the Red Wings a 6-5 come-from-behind victory.
Michael Brandsegg-Nygard scored twice for the Red Wings, while Patrick Kane added a single and two assists.
Logan Shaw, Nicholas Robertson, Michael Pezzetta, Alex Nylander and Cedric Pare scored for the Leafs, who led 2-1 after the first period and 4-2 heading into the third.
The Red Wings outshot the visitors 42-25 and went 3-for-6 on the power play, while the Leafs were 0-for-5 with the man advantage.
The NHL regular season starts on Tuesday.
