TheĀ DetroitĀ Red Wings placed two defensemen on waivers today. The two defenseman are Justin Holl and Erik Gustafsson. Placing the two on waivers likely means that prospect Axel Sandin-Pellikka will make the team out of camp. The current Red Wings defenseman on the roster are Jacob Bernard-Docker, Ben Chiarot, Simon Edvinsson, Travis Hamonic, Albert Johansson, Moritz Seider, and Sandlin-Pellikka. The other two names to watch ahead of tomorrow’s roster finalization for opening night are Michael Brandsegg-Nygard and Emmitt Finnie who both had strong preseasons. It’ll also be interesting to see if either gets claimed or what Detroit does with them tomorrow afternoon.

Justin Holl

Holl in 73 games for the Red Wings last season recorded eight points on two goals and six assists. Holl recorded a minus-seven rating, with 78 blocked shots and 35 hits. In two seasons with Detroit he played in 111 games he recorded 13 points on two goals and 11 assists. He recorded a plus-one rating with 117 blocked shots and 94 hits.Ā 

Erik GustafssonĀ 

Gustafsson last season with Detroit in the first of a two-year deal played in 60 games recording 18 points on two goals and 16 assists. He was a -19 with a power-play goal, 44 blocked shots, and 28 hits.
