Detroit Red Wings draft pick Dmitri Buchelnikov went through the first nine games of the KHL season without scoring a goal.

Now he’s netted four goals in the past three games.

The player the Red Wings chose 52nd overall in the 2022 NHL entry draft tallied the game-winner as CSKA Moscow edged Severstal 3-2 on Sunday. Buchelninkov is riding a three-game point streak. He has counted seven points in that span.

Another Goal For Genborg

Detroit’s 2025 second-round draft pick also enjoyed a productive weekend. Eddie Genborg scored for the second successive game as Timra edged reigning SHL champions Lulea 2-1.

Genborg now has three goals on the season. He gave credit for his latest tally to linemate Jonathan Dahlen.

“He has such a good understanding of the game,” Genborg told Swedish website Aftonbladet. “It’s really good. I have to give it to him, actually. It was really nice.”

Max Overdrive For Red Wings Pick

The NCAA hockey season got underway on the weekend, and Red Wings 2024 draftee Max Plante of Minnesota-Duluth wasted no time in putting his foot on the gas pedal.

In Friday’s season-opening 5-1 win over Alaska-Fairbanks, Plante was all over the scoresheet. He scored a pair of goals and also drew an assist.

The Red Wings selected the son of former NHL forward Derek Plante 47th overall in 2024.

Saturday, as the Bulldogs swept the series with a 4-1 win, Plante collected an assist. In that game, Detroit draftee Brady Cleveland was issued a game misconduct. The defenseman drafted 47th overall in 2023 was assessed a major penalty for hitting from behind.

Red Wings Pick Johansson Still On Sidelines

Detroit defense prospect Anton Johansson missed a third straight game for SHL Leksand with an undisclosed injury.

One-time Red Wings defense prospect Seth Barton joined Johansson on the shelf. He left Malmö’s game against Djurgården due to an undisclosed injury.

“I heard that he couldn’t play anymore and that was the info I got,” Malmö coach Tomas Kollar told Swedish website Hockey Sverige.

Barton was a 2018 Red Wings draftee who played three seasons for the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins.
