The San Jose Sharks have made their final roster cuts in Ethan Cardwell, Zack Ostapchuk, Luca Cagnoni, and Pavol Ragenda.

Top prospects Michael Misa and Sam Dickinson appear to have made the opening night roster for the Sharks. Although the four who have been sent down had terrific training camps, the Sharks opted to keep their young stars up.

Misa and Dickinson cannot be assigned to the San Jose Barracuda. If either were to be sent back to their respective junior teams, they would not have been eligible to play in the NHL at any point in the 25-26 NHL season.

Regenda, who was placed on NHL waivers on Sunday, needed to clear before being sent down. There was a slight concern that his strong preseason play would lead to a claim by another NHL team.

Cagnoni and Cardwell could be the first players the Sharks call up as the season progresses. Both players have been standout under-the-radar prospects. Their play with the Barracuda has made them go from solid prospects to top prospects in the Sharks’ No. 1-ranked pool.

The San Jose Sharks have yet to officially announce their opening night roster publicly. NHL rules required them to submit their finalized roster by 2 p.m. PT on Monday.

Because the team hasn’t released its official roster, Misa and Dickinson’s NHL spots cannot be confirmed. All signs point towards them having made the team.
