The Calgary Flames have placed forwards Jonathan Huberdeau and Martin Pospisil on Injured Reserve and recalled forward Sam Honzek from the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers, the team announced on Monday.

Huberdeau left the ice in Calgary’s loss against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday after taking an awkward fall and crashing into the net. He was down on the ice for a few minutes before he was able to skate off under his own power.

The 32-year-old has not returned to practice since suffering the injury.

Huberdeau scored 28 goals and finished with 62 points last year with the Flames, his third in Calgary.

Pospisil departed with an injury suffered in the same game, though he was able to practice the following day.

The 25-year-old centre left that practice session early on Thursday after taking a stick or puck up high.

Pospisil skated in 81 games last season, when he scored four goals and finished with 25 points.

The Flames open their season on Wednesday against the Edmonton Oilers.
