Gabriel Landeskog, Cale Makar and the Colorado Avalanche confused some Broncos fans last week when the entire team wore Los Angeles Rams jerseys at SoFi Stadium to support the Rams, a franchise that is also owned by Stan Kroenke. The Denver fanbase is so used to seeing players of the core-four Denver teams support their neighbors in the Mile High City, not the teams that are thousands of miles away — even if they have the same owners.
Rest assured, Avs Faithful. Landeskog and Makar put any speculation to rest on Monday and set the record straight about who they root for.
‘COLORADO FANS ARE PASSIONATE’
“I understand,” Landeskog said. “Colorado fans are passionate. To me, I didn’t watch NFL until I came here in 2011. [The] Broncos are my team, that’ll never change, but when the big boss [Kroenke] invites you to come watch a Rams game, and the way he took care of us there, it is a special bond for us to be a part of, not just the Avs and the Nuggets and the Mammoth, but to be a part of the bigger Kroenke sports family… it’s special.
Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog gave me a thoughtful response on the social media backlash of the team wearing Rams jerseys in Los Angeles. Cited a great opportunity from ownership, but also made one thing clear:

“Now having said that, if it were the Broncos playing against the Rams, I think it would’ve been a little bit different from the guys, cause some of the guys here in the locker room, a lot of us are Broncos fans… For one night, I think you can cheer on a team and it doesn’t change how you feel about whoever your primary team is.”
Cale Makar echoed the captain’s thought process when he was asked about his experience at SoFi on Thursday.
“At the end of the day, when you get offered to have an experience like that with the team that your owners own it’s fun. But, obviously I come from Calgary, so other than being a CFL fan I’m a Broncos fan at heart,” Makar said after Avs practice.

Makar also said something that should get Broncos fans fired up about their young quarterback, especially after he put together a strong performance in the fourth quarter against the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
THE AVALANCHE PLAYERS ARE ALL FANS
“Fun experience, but I’m a ride-or-die Bo Nix guy. Fun to see them play yesterday. We’re all fans in here, let’s get that straight,” he said with a smile.
For the Avs fans who are not also Broncos fans, the orange and blue pulled off the best win of the Sean Payton-Bo Nix era Sunday on the road against Philadelphia. After they looked dead in the water for three quarters, Nix engineered three consecutive touchdown drives and put up 18 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. He finished the game with 242 passing yards and a touchdown while completing 24 of his 39 pass attempts.
Landeskog said it best, Colorado fans are passionate. Many fans in this state support the four big Denver teams, instead of mixing and matching their squads like Yankees and Lakers fans do. When they see their hockey team repping a team in a different state, or their basketball head coach repping the Buffalo Bills, they’re going to raise some questions for good reason.
