It has been speculated since early in the offseason that the Avalanche would bring back the blue Quebec Nordiques jerseys as part of their 30th anniversary celebration. That speculation was taken to the next level on Sunday when the team teased new helmet colors that match the Nordiques’ color way.
We’re basically one step away from an official announcement at this point.

The red outline around the player numbers is the same outline seen on the traditional Nordiques jersey.
I, for one, am excited to see how the full gear looks on current players like Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Gabe Landeskog.
The Avs have never worn the blue Nordiques jerseys since relocating, but they have created a burgundy and white version during the reverse retro era in 2021. They also had Peter Forsberg, Adam Foote, and Joe Sakic don the blue sweaters in front of a crowd in Quebec ahead of a preseason game.
Let’s hope the announcement comes soon. And let’s hope they wear these beauties more than just two or three times.
