A bold prediction was shared by Canada’s NHL media rights holder, Sportsnet, involving Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson heading into the 2025-26 season. After a very disappointing 2024-25 campaign, which saw his production drop off amid inconsistent play, injuries, a feud with now-former teammate J.T. Miller, Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson is poised to bounce back and return to being an elite offensive player for the club.Pettersson shared in the offseason that he is «out for revenge» this season, something that should scare teams around the National Hockey League, if, and it’s a big if, he is able to return to his old form and be a 90-100 point player for the Canucks.
“I haven’t thought about it, but for myself it’s revenge. I’m not happy with last season. I’m trying to lead by example. But I know that I can become a better leader, in that aspect. I’m trying my best, but also trying to get better.” Pettersson said.

On Monday, Sportsnet shared their bold predictions for the National Hockey League’s 2025-26 season and of course, one of them involved Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson.
Sportsnet predicts that Elias Pettersson will not only have a strong start to the 2025-26 season, but will sustain his production throughout the year and truly look like a number one centerman in the National Hockey League once again, like he did during 2022-23 and first half of the 2023-24 campaign.
Elias Pettersson will look like a No. 1 centre again
Pettersson will come out of the gate strong and keep it going, re-establishing himself as a pivot Vancouver can count on at the top of its lineup. Sportsnet said.
The Sundsvall, Sweden native is determined to prove to everyone that last season was a fluke and won’t happen again, as he worked extremely hard on and off the ice this summer, telling reporters in September that he put on 13 pounds and is feeling great.”Obviously, I’m not happy with how last year was. That’s in the past. I just want to get back to myself and be the leader player I know I can be, and what I can do is only focus on today,” Pettersson said according to Izzy Cheung of The Hockey News.
He added, “I’m happy where I’m at. Definitely feel stronger. Shot’s a little harder. Just overall, feel stronger and better.”
Pettersson will begin his bounce back season on Thursday night as the Vancouver Canucks welcome the Calgary Flames to town for a 7 p.m. PT puck drop on Sportsnet Pacific.
