The Vancouver Canucks are in desperate need of a second line center, Jonathan Lekkerimaki could be their ticket to acquiring one, if doesn’t get out to a hot start when the NHL season gets going, he can get moved quickly for what he wants.
“While on paper, it might feel like Lekkerimaki has a good shot at being on the roster over his peers when Vancouver begins the 2025-26 campaign against the Calgary Flames, however he still needs to prove to his coaching staff that he deserves it, and last night’s preseason game was the first step in doing so.”-Jaxon
Jonathan Lekkerimaki could get moved quickly if he doesn’t perform.
@taj1944 on X hinted that we could see the 2011 cup nemesis Bruins be interested in Lekkerimaki if he gets off to a good start this season.
They’ve been floating those names out there all summer.
Especially Lekkerimaki.
Wonder if Bruins will have any second thoughts if he has a hot start to the season.
If the Vancouver Canucks can find a way to get a deal for Pavel Zacha perhaps, then it could solve their problems up the middle.
However, as previously discussed on Canucks Daily, there is a good chance Lekkerimaki ends up getting cut to start the season. Which would ruin any kind of chance at getting a deal done for a center.
Lekkeriamki’s biggest woes are on the defensive side of the game. He has produced well in the AHL offensively but he gives up as much as he produces, and he will need to hone his defensive game if he wants to stay in the NHL consistently.
