Los Angeles Kings News & Notes:

The NHL schedule maker didn’t do the Kings any favors as they start the season against the Avalanche and the Golden Knights, two Stanley Cup contenders, on back-to-back nights. LA visits Vegas tonight to take on the Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena. These teams won’t battle again until January 14 in Los Angeles.

Vegas Golden Knights News & Notes:

There are high hopes in Vegas after the acquisition of former Toronto Maple Leaf Mitch Marner. Marner and Eichel have already shown some chemistry during the preseason, leaving fans of the Golden Knights excited for the season. The Golden Knights should be considered one of the leading contenders to represent the Western Conference in the Stanley Cup Final.

Players To Watch:

Los Angeles Kings

The future of the Kings may rest on the shoulders of a couple of young players on the cusp of stardom. Quinton Byfield has had two excellent seasons in a row and appears to be poised to take his game to the next level, while Alex Turcotte started to find his game a year ago and could be ready for a breakout season in a more important role this year.

Vegas Golden Knights

Mitch Marner joins a team that many are picking to return to the Stanley Cup Final. Is he the missing piece to help Vegas get over the top? There will be a lot of pressure on Marner to be an impact player for the Golden Knights and to produce in the playoffs. That was the knock on Marner in Toronto, but with the fresh start, maybe he can put all that behind him and just play.
