Vegas Golden Knights & Jack Eichel Agree to Eight-Year Extension

The Vegas Golden Knights kick off their 2025-26 season tonight at home against the Los Angeles Kings. Reports are this afternoon that the Golden Knights and forward Jack Eichel have agreed on an eight-year contract extension. The contract is worth $108 million, which comes out to a $13.5 million AAV. Eichel was set to be a free agent following this season. Vegas acquired Eichel in 2021 from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for draft picks, Peyton Krebs, and Alex Tuch. Eichel put up a career high 94 points last season, playing in 77 games; he had 28 goals and 66 assists, finishing as a +32 with five power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and three game-winning goals.

Jack Eichel

The Buffalo Sabres drafted Eichel second overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft out of Boston University. He spent his first six seasons of his career with Buffalo, playing in 375 games, recording 355 points on 139 goals and 216 assists. He was a -69 with 41 power-play goals, a short-handed goal, and 25 power-play goals. In four seasons at Vegas, he’s played in 241 games, recording 253 points on 100 goals and 153 assists. He is a +65 with 21 power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and 14 game-winning goals. Eichel won the Stanley Cup with Vegas in 2022-23 and has finished as high as fifth in Hart Trophy and Selke Trophy voting which came last season, he also finished fourth in Calder Memorial Trophy voting in 2015-16.
