We once again have action on the NHL waiver wire today, and the Montreal Canadiens have a new potential option.
I absolutely don’t believe Kent Hughes will take this opportunity, but it’s worth noting that a very intriguing young goaltender is currently available for free.
Action on the NHL waiver wire today!
Please note that Kevin Rooney, Ville Husso, Jeremy Davies, Alexandar Georgiev, and Juha Jaaska were not claimed off waivers today.”The Blues have agreed to terms with goaltender Georgi Romanov on a one-year, two-way contract.”
– St. Louis Blues
Romanov will therefore replace Colten Ellis, who was claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Sabres.”Everyone on waivers yesterday cleared
Georgi Romanov, signed by STL today, only new name”
– Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet
Romanov, 25 years old, is a 6-foot-5, 207-pound goaltender with 10 games of NHL experience. He has a goals-against average of 3.53 and a save percentage of .888 from his time with the struggling San Jose Sharks.
Blais also commented after getting claimed by the Leafs:
“I wish it had worked out in Montreal. I’m a local guy,” Blais said.
“Plus, I was starting to really fit in with the locker room. I think the guys were starting to like me.”
– Sammy Blais
