Injured Pittsburgh Penguins winger Bryan Rust took to the ice for practice with the team Wednesday at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
Rust has a lower-body injury. About a week ago, he was listed as being out for a minimum of two weeks. He was not wearing a contrasting no-contact jersey, and coach Dan Muse confirmed Rust was full-contact.
He missed the team’s 3-0 season-opening win Tuesday against the Rangers in New York.
During drills, he rotated in some Sidney Crosby’s top line.
“He’s taking steps,” Muse said of Rust. “He’s taking steps in the right direction. First time out there with the team in practice, so it’s a step. We’ll continue to re-evaluate.”
All other expected players were participating in practice.
