We finally have the full picture of the Montreal Canadiens lineup for tonight’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.
Well, now we have the answer.
Journalist Patrick Friolet from RDS confirmed on X that the only change to the lineup doesn’t concern the defense, but rather the goaltender.
“Martin St-Louis will make only one change to his lineup for tonight’s game against the Red Wings.
Jakub Dobes in net.” – Patrick Friolet
For Dobes, it’s not a big surprise. In my opinion, he will be used in the vast majority of second games in back-to-back situations, probably even in all of them.
Arber Xhekaj keeps his spot while Jakub Dobes gets his first start with the Montreal Canadiens
The young Dobes will therefore take Montembeault’s place, as Monty was in net yesterday in Toronto. I have to say Monty played well despite the loss. He doesn’t deserve much blame, in my opinion.
This first opportunity against Detroit will allow him to show how much he has improved since last year.
As for Arber Xhekaj, he will indeed be in uniform, confirming that the head coach prefers to give him another chance rather than making a change.
I think that’s a good decision, as the young defenseman needs to work on bouncing back after an average performance.
