The Blue Jackets are set to play their season opener on Oct. 9 against the Nashville Predators to kick off their 2025-26 NHL season.
The Blue Jackets lost their final preseason game leading up to the new season against the Washington Capitals 2-1 on the road and ended their preseason with a record of 2-5. On Oct. 7, the Blue Jackets’ coaching staff had not decided on a starting goalie between Jet Greaves and Elvis Merzlikins, but will likely try out both in the regular season.
The Blue Jackets are attempting to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2019-20. Their first opponent, the Predators, went 30-44 in the 2024-25 season.
