The Colorado Avalanche have been stirring the pot recently, as they have teased a potential look that pays homage to the Quebec Nordiques during the franchise’s 30th season in Colorado. From the logo at center ice at Ball Arena to the helmets, fans have been getting hints of a potential throwback uniform being in store.

On Friday, the team tossed out another hint following the Avalanche’s 2-1 win over the Utah Mammoth. This time, it wasn’t just the helmet, as the team’s social media page posted pictures of the pants and gloves that could potentially go with a Nordiques throwback.

The pants sport the old Nordiques logo on the lower side of the right leg, which all but confirms that fans will be seeing some rendition of that uniform making its way onto the ice this year.

From 1979-1995, the Nordiques wore blue pants, but switched up whether they wore a blue or white sweater depending on if they were at home or not. There has been no sign on whether the sweater will be blue or white to round out this look. They used a navy sweater as their traditional alternate look in recent years with the “C” inside of the triangle on the front, but their last two special alternates have both been white. The reverse retro uniforms in the 2022-23 season were white with yellow and red accents, while the 2021 reverse retro uniforms featured an old Nordiques vibe with an Avalanche twist in the colors. That jersey was also white.

The Nordiques uniforms in 2021 were a massive hit, and these will likely be so as well, especially if it’s just a remake of the classics instead of a modern spin on them. Avs fans on social media are liking the hints, and hoping that they’ll get to see the full kit sometime soon.
