We learned this morning that Jonathan Drouin‘s situation took an official turn as he was set to appear before the NHL Department of Player Safety.

Jonathan Drouin receives a one-game suspension for his dangerous play

The incident occurred in the final minutes of the game, when Drouin delivered a stick to the face of the Penguins player.

The dirty act immediately caught the attention of the officials and the NHL office.

Even though Drouin had started his season well, scoring a goal in his first game under Patrick Roy, this suspension definitely puts a stick in his spokes.

Despite the controversy, the Islanders played a solid game in their loss to Pittsburgh.

Young Matthew Schaefer impressed in his first NHL game. I’m afraid this Schaefer is going to be a problem for a lot of teams – and for a long time.

Patrick Roy can at least take comfort in seeing his team play with more speed and conviction, even if a lack of discipline cost them dearly.

Drouin will therefore miss the game against the Capitals tomorrow night.

Do you think a one-game suspension for Drouin is enough?
