The NHL has changed the start time for the Toronto Maple Leafs’ game against the Detroit Red Wings on Monday from 4 p.m. ET to 2 p.m. ET to avoid overlapping with Game 2 of baseball’s American League Championship Series, which features the Toronto Blue Jays, TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reports.
The NHL has moved up the start time of Monday’s Leafs-Red Wings game to 2 p.m. to avoid going head to head with Game 2 of the ALCS hosted by the Blue Jays.

The Maple Leafs are scheduled to host Detroit at Scotiabank Arena in the second half of a home-and-home series against the Red Wings that starts on Saturday night in Detroit.
“Jays playoff excitement has captured the entire city and we want to help make that fans don’t miss a pitch,” MLSE president and CEO Keith Pelley said.
Johnston also reports that fans are invited to stay in their seats after the conclusion of the hockey game to watch the baseball game on the jumbotron at Scotiabank Arena.
The Blue Jays eliminated the New York Yankees in the AL Division Series, three games to one, with a 5-2 victory on Wednesday. They are playing in the ALCS for the first time since 2016, and for just the seventh time in their 49 seasons.
The Blue Jays will be hosting either the Seattle Mariners or Detroit Tigers, pending the result of Friday night’s game in their ALDS series. The start time of Monday’s game will depend on the winner of the other ongoing series in the MLB postseason – a 4:30 p.m. ET start if the Chicago Cubs advance, or a 5 p.m. ET start if the Milwaukee Brewers advance.
The Maple Leafs opened their season with a victory over the Montreal Canadiens at home on Wednesday. They beat the Red Wings in three of four matchups last season.
