For months now, fans of the Vegas Golden Knights have been holding their breath. Jack Eichel had been eligible to sign an extension since July 1st. There was never any indication that Eichel wanted to leave Vegas, but as the hours ticked away before the start of the 2025-26 regular season, doubt began to creep in.
The wait is over. Eichel, now signed through 2032, will remain a Golden Knight.
I’m hearing Vegas have extended Eichel.

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Emily Kaplan reported there was “urgency on both sides” to finalize a deal before Opening Night on Wednesday.
Kaplan was right. On Wednesday, six hours before the puck dropped on Opening Night, the Golden Knights reached an agreement with their superstar center. Eichel signed an eight-year contract with a $13.5 million AAV and will become the highest-paid player in Golden Knights history.
Yes, $13.5 million is a lot of money. But it’s also an incredible deal. In a rising cap era, it’s even better.
Eichel is worth every penny. He’s the Golden Knights’ franchise center and has led the team in points for two of their last three seasons. During his four-year Golden Knights career, Eichel has played 241 games and recorded 100 goals and 253 points. More importantly, he’s also a two-way center and a perennial candidate for the Frank J. Selke Trophy.
In his postseason debut, Eichel helped the Golden Knights capture their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. He led the team in points and finished as the runner-up in Conn Smythe Trophy voting.
The Golden Knights now have Eichel and Mitch Marner, both locked up long-term, at a combined $25.5 million.
