Nashville Predators rookie Brady Martin tallied his first NHL assist on Oct. 11 during a matchup with the visiting Utah Mammoth.

When Filip Forsberg scored at the 7:23 mark of the first period to tie the game 1-1, Martin was credited with an assist. On the play, Martin swiped his stick at the Utah blueline to force a turnover, opening the lane for Forsberg to streak into the zone and score on Mammoth goaltender Karel Vejmelka.

Martin became the second-youngest player to debut for Nashville on Oct. 9, a 2-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

The Predators‘ top pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, Martin was selected at No. 5 overall out of Sault Ste. Marie in the Ontario Hockey League. He scored 43 goals and 57 assists in 109 games in the OHL, adding six points in 16 playoff games.

An Elmira, Ontario native, Martin reported before the game that he had approximately 30 people in attendance to see his first goal. That included his mom, Sheryl; father Terry; his two brothers, Joey and Jordan; and his sister, Rylee.

The Predators signed Martin to a three-year, entry-level contract over the summer. They must make the decision whether to keep him in Nashville for the full season or send him back to the OHL for the year. Martin can play up to nine games in the NHL before they must decide.
