Toronto Maple Leafs forward Easton Cowan is expected to make his NHL debut on Monday and his comments after practice has Leafs Nation buzzing.

It’s going to be an exciting Thanksgiving Monday in Toronto as Maple Leafs top prospect Easton Cowan is expected to make his NHL debut, but not only that but do it with some heavy expectations.

Fans will finally get a chance to see what he can do for the team, and while all signs previously showed he could debut earlier, there’s nothing that is stopping him now and it’s going to be an unforgettable moment.

What Easton Cowan’s Mindset Reveals About His Readiness for the NHL

The magnitude of the occasion isn’t lost on the young forward, and while there has to be some initial nerves, Cowan believes that he can not only have a good game, but make a big impact:

I feel confident. I feel like I’m ready for this. Just going to take it all in, enjoy it, and have some fun.

It’s the right attitude for the rookie to have, and seems all but nervous about stepping onto the ice.

He’s also not too concerned about the time change either, and hopes that the matinee matchup can give him a bit of a boost:

I feel like it will go by slow [time before his debut]. I’m actually happy about that. I like the afternoon games, so I’m pumped about that for sure.

Fans are also getting quite excited about getting to finally see Cowan put on the #53 and step onto the ice:

Craig Berube’s previous comments showed that the Maple Leafs had a plan for Cowan, and while that may have been accelerated due to an unfortunate Steven Lorentz injury; let’s hope the gamble pays off.

In front of a bevy of family and friends, Easton Cowan is looking forward to starting his NHL career.

For everyone a part of it; fans, teammates, coaches, family, it’s going to truly be a day to remember regardless of the outcome.
