Jonah Gadjovich, like so many of his teammates, isn’t leaving the Florida Panthers any time soon.

The Panthers on Sunday announced they signed Gadjovich to a two-year contract extension that keeps him under term through the 2027-28 season.

The announcement came on Gadjovich’s 27th birthday.

“Jonah has become an integral part of our locker room and a strong contributor for our group on the ice,” Panthers president of hockey operations and general manager Bill Zito said in a press release announcing the deal. “He possesses a fearless attitude and unrelenting competitiveness, and we are excited for Jonah to continue with us in South Florida.”

Gadjovich signed with the Panthers ahead of the 2023-24 season — the first of what has since been consecutive Stanley Cup championship seasons. He has found a home as a winger on Florida’s physical, tone-setting fourth line. In 84 regular-season games with the Panthers, Gadjovich has nine points (six goals, three assists) and 220 hits.

He made his Stanley Cup playoffs debut last season, scoring three points (two goals, one assist) over 13 games while also logging 63 hits.

Gadjovich went pseudo-viral following Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final last season, a 6-1 Panthers win over the Edmonton Oilers, following a full line brawl in the third period capped by a lengthy fight between Gadjovich and the Oilers’ Darnell Nurse. Gadjovich, with his nose bloodied, stuck his tongue out in celebration as he left the ice for the penalty box.

The team immediately made a T-shirt of that celebration.

Now, he has a chance to make more of those moments and keep making an impact for the Panthers as they try to win a third consecutive Stanley Cup.

He is one of eight Panthers forwards signed through at least the 2027-28 season and one of 13 players total on the team signed that long.
