Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube is attempting to nip the team’s problems in the bud, calling a full team meeting just one day after their first blowout loss of the season.

Although it’s only two games into the new season, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has already pooled his players after a blowout loss to the Detroit Red Wings to deliver a concise message to prepare them for their rematch tomorrow afternoon.

The Leafs held a 2-0 lead after the first period of Saturday’s game, but ended up falling 6-3, primarily due to a brutal second period that saw Detroit score 3 unanswered goals and outshoot Toronto 15-9.

The third period wasn’t any better as the Leafs were outshot 7-6 and outscored 3-1, albeit with 2 goals being scored into an empty net. However, despite being outshot 22-15 and outscored 6-1 in the final 40 minutes, Berube is not ready to sound the alarm bells.

The fiery bench boss admitted that he had a meeting with the team this morning and isn’t overly concerned considering the season just started, but he does need to make sure the team is buying into the system at the very least.

We had a good, hard meeting today. I don’t care what time of year it is. We have to make sure we’re all bought into playing the right way.

The Leafs should come out firing tomorrow afternoon as they open up a 5-game home-stand, and hopefully, the team meeting reignited some of that drive that Berube is looking for early on.
