The J.T. Miller trade has received mixed reviews with Chris Drury getting some surprise kudos all the way from Toronto.

Canada’s leading columnist, Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun put it this way:

“Was that all Vancouver could get for J.T. Miller? He has 284 points over the past three seasons; and 103 last year alone.”

Another Toronto hockey analyst and player, Mark Nussbaum, also took the Canucks high command to task.

“Miller is going to thrive in New York. Jim Rutherford and the Canucks mishandled this terrible trade. A guy with Miller’s passion and competitiveness – along with his skill – is so rare. He’s such a well-rounded team player. Yes, he’s very demanding but so are most of the greats.”

On X/Twitter, Rangers Muse writes: “Lindgren should be in Vancouver not Mancini.”

Or, Sid Seixeiro: “Miller, the big, bad wolf has been removed from the Vancouver dressing room. Elias Petterson responded with a minus 2.”

One bloc of Blueshirt fans believe that – as good as Miller may be – it’s too late for the Rangers to climb into a playoff berth.

“The trade should have been done weeks ago,” is the way one puts it.

Like all major exchanges, only time will determine the winner and loser. Right now, the primary issue for the Rangers is making the playoffs!
