Winnipeg Jets News & Notes:

The Winnipeg Jets are coming off a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings for their first win of the 2025-26 season. Haydn Fleury was injured after blocking a shot and listed as day-to-day by head coach Scott Arniel, so the team recalled Kale Clague from the Manitoba Moose and reassigned Brad Lambert to the Moose.

New York Islanders News & Notes:

The New York Islanders are looking for their first win of the 2025-26 season as they welcome the Winnipeg Jets to UBS Arena. Matthew Schaefer looks to build on the momentum he has going for himself after playing big minutes and scoring his first NHL goal.

Players To Watch:

Winnipeg Jets

Nikita Chibrikov is looking for his first point with the Winnipeg Jets in the 2025-26 season. The Jets’ top prospect is looking to continue making strong impressions by adding some big performances to his resume, especially with the team on the road for a couple of games.

Connor Hellebuyck can singlehandedly steal games for the Winnipeg Jets, and he has yet to do that in the opening stretch of games. Scott Arniel talked about managing Hellebuyck’s workload, but the strong performances and urge to defend trophies likely will push that mark above the 60 games played.

New York Islanders

Matthew Schaefer has been playing big minutes for the New York Islanders. It’s expected that will continue against Winnipeg and he’ll build on the momentum he has heading into this contest.

Ilya Sorokin has quietly faded out of the spotlight as one of the leagues top goaltenders. A string of strong performances can change that for the Islanders’ star goaltender.
