The Nashville Predators visit the Ottawa Senators on Oct. 13 at the Canadian Tire Centre, kicking off a four-game road trip through Canada.
The game is a noon start because it is Canadian Thanksgiving.
After an opening night 2-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Predators lost in overtime to the Utah Mammoth on Oct. 11. Dylan Guenther’s overtime winner came after three minutes of puck possession by Utah, something that Predators coach Andrew Brunette said “takes a little bit of the entertainment value” out of overtime.
But the Predators have three points in their first two games, much better than last year’s 0-5 start. Solid performances from Filip Forsberg, who scored his first goal of the season against Utah, and rookie Brady Martin, who got his first NHL point on the play, should have Nashville feeling better about the year.
Perhaps the best development is the play of goaltender Juuse Saros. He has a .935 save percentage and a 1.96 goals allowed average through two games. Typically a slow starter, Saros looks ready to bounce back from last year when he led the NHL in losses (31).
Ottawa (1-1-0, 2 points) lost 6-2 against the Florida Panthers on Oct. 11, a game in which starting goaltender Linus Ullmark gave up six goals on 27 shots. Forward Shane Pinto leads the Senators with four goals and one assist through two games.
