On Monday night the Panthers open a five-game road trip at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia against the winless Philadelphia Flyers (0-1-1, 1 point). The Flyers haven’t been to the playoffs since the expanded postseason during the 2019-20 COVID-19 altered season, while Florida is on a run of six consecutive playoff appearances and three straight trips to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Aaron Ekblad, Brad Marchand and Anton Lundell each booked a goal and an assist on Saturday night, as the Panthers cruised to a 6-2 victory over the visiting Ottawa Senators. Evan Rodrigues, Mackie Samoskevich and Sam Reinhart also lit the lamp for Florida in the win, while Gustav Forsling and Seth Jones each had a pair of assists. Marchand and Lundell lead the team with two goals apiece in the early season.

Travis Sanheim scored with four minutes left in regulation, but the Carolina Hurricanes got the game winner with 17 seconds left in overtime to hand visiting Philadelphia a 4-3 loss on Saturday night. Owen Tippett put the Flyers up 1-0 late in the first period and Bobby Brink’s goal at 6:18 in the second handed Philly a 2-1 edge. Samuel Ersson made 35 saves in his first start of the season.

The teams met in suburban Miami on Thursday, with the Panthers taking a 2-1 victory on Marchand’s goal early in the third period. Dan Vladař made 32 saves in the loss, while Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 19 shots in the Florida net.
